The main town in the Upper Vinschgau Valley
Mals (ital. Malles Venosta) is well-known for its mild, sunny climate, which is precisely why the main town in the Upper Venosta Valley is such a popular destination for holidaymakers. Located at an altitude of 1,050 m, it offers an ideal base for countless hikes and cycle tours. Particularly scenic and well worth exploring are the tributary valleys such as the Schlinigtal, Matschertal and Planeiltal.
The townscape of Mals is characterised by churches and towers, reminders of times long past. In the idyllic centre of Mals visitors can stroll through the pedestrian zone, take a look round the shops and stop for a bite in one of the restaurants.
Since 2005 Mals railway station has, once again, been the last stop on the Venosta line which runs all the way to Merano. The railway line enables guests to explore the Venosta Valley with all its scenic and cultural highlights. The Swiss Mals-Zernez bus service also starts from the railway station, as does the Mals Citybus which takes passengers from the railway station to the town centre and to the surrounding villages.
Particularly convenient for our guests: the bus and train station is situated just a few minutes’ walk from the campsite, which means you can travel in comfort to countless starting points for day trips and hikes through the unique Venosta Valley countryside without the need for a car.
